MOTOR VEHICLE VERIFICATION AND COMPLIANCE EXERCISE

Do you own or drive a vehicle such as Tractor, Tipper, Lorry, Tanker, Truck, Pick Up van or bus, jeep or a saloon car?
Do you own or drive a tricycle?
Do you ride a motor cycle?
Is It for private or commercial purpose?

The Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), the Edo State Traffic Management Agency (ESTMA) and the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) shall jointly carry out a Motor Vehicle Verification and Compliance Exercise tagged: “OPERATION SHOW YOUR VEHICLE PARTICULARS” beginning from Thursday 14th September, 2017 across the state. This is to ensure that vehicle registration and issuance processes are complied with.
Motorist and vehicle owners are to ensure that they have the under listed items which shall be checked during the verification exercise.
1. Vehicle Licence
2. Drivers Licence
3. Vehicle Number Plate
4. Certificate of Road Worthiness
5. Hackney Carriage/Carriage Permit
6. Vehicle Insurance
Those without valid vehicle documents and number plate are advised to take advantage of this opportunity by visiting any of the EIRS Motor Licencing Offices (MLOs) and Number Plate Issuing Offices across the State to renew their vehicle particulars and should not patronize tout as ignorance of document expiration date and the Law will not be an excuse.
Furthermore, all past government officials are also advised to return all government number plate in their possession or face prosecution.
For the avoidance of doubt, any individual found to be involved in the issuance, sale or usage of vehicle particulars and number plate will be arrested and prosecuted on the spot by the Mobile Court and could risk a jail term of six (6) months.
Motorist are to note that towed and impounded vehicles are at the owners’ risk.
