Pope Francis on Christmas:

"Christmas is usually a noisy party: we could use a bit of silence, to hear the voice of Love." Christmas is you, when you decide to be born again each day and let God into your soul. The Christmas pine is you, when you resist vigorous winds and difficulties of life. The Christmas decorations are you, when your virtues are colors that adorn your life. The Christmas bell is you, when you call, gather and seek to unite. You are also a Christmas light, when you illuminate with your life the path of others with kindness, patience, joy and generosity. The Christmas angels are you, when you sing to the world a message of peace, justice and love. The Christmas star is you, when you lead someone to meet the Lord. You are also the wise men, when you give the best you have no matter who. Christmas music is you when you conquer the harmony within you. The Christmas gift is you, when you are truly friend and brother of every human being. The Christmas card is you, when kindness is written in your hands. The Christmas greeting is you, when you forgive and reestablish peace, even when you suffer. The Christmas dinner is you, when you sated bread and hope to the poor man who is by your side. You are, yes, Christmas night, when humble and conscious, you receive in the silence of the night the Savior of the world without noise or great celebrations; you are a smile of trust and tenderness, in the inner peace of a perennial Christmas that establishes the Kingdom within you. A very Merry Christmas for all those who look like Christmas. Pope Francisco

*Before Breakfast Lessons*

😃🗣✍🏽☕🍔🍲🍞🍮☕ Tuesday, December 5, 2017 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭 Like our page on Facebook: Before Breakfast Lessons https://www.facebook.com/beforebreakfastlesson/ *Lesson 272* ************ ❇ *Confusing words*🤔💬💭 💠 *Insure* and *Ensure* To *insure* means to buy insurance so that you will receive money if your property, car, etc. gets damaged or stolen, or if you get ill/sick or die. It also means to sell insurance to somebody for something. The other verb forms are "insure", "insured" and "insuring". In American English, *insure* is sometimes used to mean *ensure*. That is not tolerable in British English. *Ensure* is also a verb. It means "to make sure that something happens or is definite". It is also used to mean *insure* in American English. Both words are pronounced the same way as /ɪnˈʃɔː(r)/ (British) or /ɪnˈʃʊr/ (American). Example 1. He *insures* his property at Prime Insurance Company. ✅ 2. We have to *ensure* that everyone is served. ✅ ❇ *Misused words/expressions*❌ 💠 *Fill in the "blank spaces"* Without stretching this phrase too much, we could simply say it sounds tautological. *Blank* is an adjective. If something is *blank*, it is empty, with nothing written, printed or recorded on it. *Space* is a noun. In writing or printing, (a) space refers to the part of a line, page or document that is empty. By saying *blank space*, are we not saying the same thing in two different words? We could say: *"Fill in the spaces"* and the same sense will be carried. ❇ *Grammar*📚 💠 *Tense (Shine)* The word *shine* can be used as a verb and as a noun. Our focus is on its usage as a verb. In sense 1, *shine* means to produce or reflect light; to be bright. *Shone* is the past tense and past participle form. For example; The sun *shone* brightly in the morning. In sense 2, *shine* means to aim or point the light of a lamp, etc. in a particular direction. The past tense and past participle form is *shone*. For example; He *shone* the flashlight around the accident scene. In American English, *shined* can also be used for both past tense and participle forms. For example; He *shined* the light at where he was injured. In sense 3, *shine* means to polish something; to make something smooth and bright. The past tense and past participle is *shined*. For example; He *shined* the shoe very well.✅ He *shone* the shoe well. ❌ ❇ *Spell Check & Pronunciation*☑ 💠 *Suffice* *Suffice* is a verb. It means "to be enough for somebody or something". For example: One example will *suffice* to illustrate the point. *Suffice* is not used in the progressive form, as in *sufficing*. *Suffice* is commonly used in the idiom *suffice (it) to say (that)...* This idiom is used to suggest that although you could say more, what you do say will be enough to explain what you mean. It is an elegant phrase for *let us just say* or *I shall just say*. It doesn't have to be set off with commas. For example: *Suffice it to say* he doesn't pass the exams, what would be director's reason for employing him? *Suffice* is not pronounced the same way as *suffix*, so you shouldn't say /safix/. It is approximately pronounced as /sɛfais/, but more accurately as /səˈfʌɪs/. ❇ *Useful expressions/Idioms*🆔 💠 *On the back burner* If something is *on the back burner*, it is temporarily not being dealt with or considered, especially because it is not urgent or important. The opposite is *on the front burner* which means getting or needing immediate action. Example 1. The manager has put our plans of recruiting new employees *on the back burner*. ✅ 2. The fight against illegal small-scale mining has been *on the front burner* since the year began. ✅ ❇ *Vocabulary building*👍🏽🆕 💠 *Toiletries* These are articles used in washing and taking care of one's body, such as soap, shampoo, and toothpaste, etc. *Toiletries* is mainly used in its plural form. Example 1. We presented the Children's Home with some cash and *toiletries*. ✅ ❇ *Reading Corner*👨🏽‍🏫👩🏽‍🏫📚 💠 *Benefit of reading*: Reading is one of the surest ways of sharpening one's intelligence. You are able to make well-informed judgements and form well-thought-out ideas. You don't make empty statements; whenever you speak, it carries great sense. ❇ *Communication (speaking & writing) Tip*✅ 💠 *Responding to questions (continued)* Some questions demand a simple *yes* or *no* answer; others demand further explanations. This distinction shouldn't be a problem. For example: Mother: Are you hungry? Son: I ate in the morning. By inference, the son means to say he is not hungry, but couldn't he have been direct by saying *No...*? Perhaps, in spoken English, we don't see the relevance of being direct with responses, but in written tests, you don't have an option. Questions that elicit explanations should also be handled accordingly. Usually one-word responses are not sufficient as answers for such questions. For example: How do you spend your weekend? *To be continued...* .................End.................... Your language is your bargaining power, so make it skilled. The Six Stages of Social Deception

Social Deception very often is a process by which wrong becomes right, and right becomes wrong. It’s a complete paradigm shift of opinions, standards and morals that is achieved softly, subtly and often takes a generation to entrench into society. Those who engineer it are very deliberate and structured in their approach. If you want to know what I am talking about, find out your mother’s views on things like sexuality and marriage and compare them with yours. The contrast in opinions does not necessarily prove that she is old and antiquated; it may instead prove that you have been deceived. There are six stages of Social Deception. The SHOCKER stage The OUTRAGE stage The DISCUSSION stage The TOLERANCE stage The ACCEPTANCE stage The VENERATION stage If I wanted to popularize the most unimaginable thing in our society, say like bestiality (the practice of having sex with animals). I would follow these steps. I would select a forerunner to drop the SHOCKING message on an unsuspecting public. “It is okay and we shouldn't have problems having sex with animals,” he would announce on radio, TV or in a newspaper. That is the SHOCKER; the bombshell, so to speak. It would inevitably be followed by OUTRAGE. The forerunner is abused and demonized by the bewildered public. Every respected leader in society comes out to slam the lamentable reprobate who dared suggest something so obnoxious. The forerunner defiantly defends the practice. His critics come out even more scathing. But the forerunner knows exactly what he is doing. He is setting an agenda. Many people don’t understand the effect of continuous exposure on the human mind. I will give an example most of you will understand. If you ask a girl out and she is not interested in you, the best thing she can do for herself is stay away from you or your words. If she continues listening to you, what was initially unthinkable becomes worth a consideration, then acceptable. Many ladies have fallen for guys they swore never to date just because they didn’t understand the law of continuous exposure. Once the bestiality message reaches the third stage; DISCUSSION, the forerunner has done his job. At this stage there is a big debate over bestiality; with most people still slamming it, not knowing that they are falling into a trap. It is a known fact that homosexual groups abroad were giving money to people fighting homosexuality in Uganda. Then they would also fund those pushing for it. Initially it didn’t make sense. Until understanding came about how deception works. What they wanted was to keep the subject of homosexuality in public debate. They know exactly what they were doing. The more people are exposed to it through discussion, the more it becomes less obnoxious in their minds. That leads to the next stage: TOLERANCE. At this stage people say: “I am not going to have sex with animals, but if someone chooses to do it, shauri yake (that’s his problem). Others will say: “Who cares what people do behind closed doors?” I have heard these statements being made by people who clearly don’t understand what they are up against. This is the stage at which science kicks in to ‘prove’ that some people are born with an inherent attraction "natural orientation" towards animals and they cannot help themselves. Consequently, bestiality will be included in the UN Human Rights Charter and activists are given a new pursuit. Economic and travel sanctions will be used to twist the arms of nations that still forbid it. Then we start hearing phrases like: “We cannot tell people whom they should love.” The main purpose of this stage is to ensure that bestiality is legally accepted. The next two steps are aimed at entrenching it at a social level. The penultimate stage is ACCEPTANCE. At this stage bestiality becomes a conventional alternative way of living. All the outrage has since dissipated. This is the stage at which those still opposed to it are called BESTIAPHOBIC (the word will be coined) and they are considered antiquated, old-fashioned, intolerant, dogmatic, religious zealots, bigots…. you’ve heard all those words. This is the stage at which there are bestiality rights parades in major cities. Then we are reminded that the same book in the Bible that forbids bestiality also forbids eating pork. Then ‘intellectuals’ use that to rubbish the Word of God, and make it look ridiculous. The final step is VENERATION. This is the stage at which the people who practice bestiality are praised. The liberalist media (which includes almost all international channels) subtly promotes them as ‘cool’, intelligent, exposed. That’s the stage at which celebrities ‘come out’ to reveal that they are ‘proud bestialists’. Then bestiality begins to win fresh ‘converts’ everyday because many young people will do anything to be seen as ‘cool’ or to be associated with some Hollywood or football star. That is how you corrupt a whole society. That’s how previously unthinkable things like atheism and homosexuality and all other forms of sexual perversion have taken root in our society. Unfortunately, in Uganda, homosexuality has reached Stage four (Tolerance). But in the West, it has gotten to the veneration stage. You have probably heard of the black homosexual American footballer who “made history by becoming the first footballer to come out”. What’s historical about someone proclaiming their perversion? So many other people are being lauded in the media for no other reason other than their homosexuality. Your mother may not be outdated after all. You may be deceived. If you found this enlightening, share it with as many people as possible. It might just save them from the ever-widening canyon of SOCIAL DECEPTION..

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos is pleased to announce the call for applications for a summer 2018 study of the U.S. Institute for Student Leaders interested in the topic of Social Entrepreneurship.

The Institute will take place in June and July 2018 and will be hosted by California State University, Chico in Chico, California.

Program Description:

The Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUIs) for Student Leaders are intensive short term academic programs whose purpose is to provide groups of undergraduate student leaders with a deeper understanding of the United States, while simultaneously enhancing their leadership skills. The five-week Institutes will consist of a balanced series of seminar discussions, readings, group presentations and lectures. The coursework and classroom activities will be complemented by educational travel, site visits, leadership activities and volunteer opportunities within the local community. The Institutes will include an academic residency component of approximately four weeks and a domestic study tour of approximately one week. During the academic residency, participants will also have the opportunity to engage in educational and cultural activities outside of the classroom.

The four week academic residency will focus on the development, history, challenges and successes of social enterprises and community leaders in the United States and globally. Participants will discuss topics such as microfinance; organizational development and management; grant writing; innovation; emerging markets and risk analysis; strategic business planning; corporate social responsibility; and women and minorities in entrepreneurs and representatives of non-profit organizations. The academic residency will be complemented by an educational study tour that will take participants to another area of the U.S. where they will meet with local, state, private and non-profit organizations working in the field.

The Institute will then conclude with a 3-day program in Washington, D.C.

Other Essential Program Information:

Housing and Meal Arrangements: Housing will be in shared university dorms on campus with common bathrooms, Male participants will be housed on one floor and female participants on a separate floor. Most meals will be provided at campus facilities, though participants may have access to a kitchen to cook some meals on their own. It is important that nominees are aware of these arrangements and that they are comfortable with such accommodations.
Care will be taken to ensure that any special requirements regarding diet, daily worship, housing and medical care are satisfied.

Health Benefits: All participants will receive the Department of States coverage of $100,000 with a $25 co-pay per medical visit and $75 co-pay per emergency room visit for the duration of the program. Pre-existing conditions are not covered.

WHY-k
*(GEN SEC)*
NOBLE G
*(WELARE DIRECTOR)*
**FOSSU LAGOS**

Serving humanity naturally makes me happy, though my humility to humanity may not be perfected as perfection is meant for the Creator Only.
I felt so warm with the warms of heart of you people; have learnt a lot, have seen a lot and have experienced a lot from you people, truly there is complexity in human behaviours.
I thank you all for the trust, patience, love and time we have spent together as a family.

Five years ago, I had some lonely feelings thinking of my friends and family I departed from but meeting great people like you you and you, easily I continue with life.
Here comes another moment that time have to separate us for attainment of my program and goodness, I pray for smooth and easy path for every one of us in our various programs.

*I urge us all to give full support morally, spiritually, financially and intellectually to the new Aare*, together we stand divided we fall.
It is imperative for all executives to give consolidated and undiluted support to Aare (remember always patience and tolerance).
If Nigeria must be great we must be great, if Oyo state must be great we must be great, if FOSSU must be great we must be great.
Academics come first ability to combine social life’s makes us an exceptional student. Let’s balance pivot between academic and social life’s.

I hereby remember the demise of one of our member, may the gentle soul of Tosin (from Iseyin) rest in perfect peace, God Almighty continue to be there for his family forever and ever.
May we live long, we shall never paa yin, we shall never Kuu, our parents will reap their fruits, we shall be blessing to individuals, family, Nigeria and humanity at large.
Please health is wealth, your health is most important.

I love every single person of this family (FOSSU UNILAG and general), honestly I love you all and I mean it I love you, do you know? My name testified to it Habeeb means (Lover), so I love you all.

Lastly, *please don’t ever give up, never give up on positive things, it may take time but never give up*. Master and use this three efficiently; *WISDOM, PRAYER AND HARDWORKING*.
So goodbye to everyone, don’t cry eee, I still need you people’s love again.
